Über-Sister can play basketball

The Über-Sister can play basketball.

This weekend with Kayla was special in a number of ways.

On Saturday, Kayla had a basketball game at the gym in Leander and she played an outstanding game. She learned what the phrase “physical game” means. She was paired up with the biggest girl on the other team and they almost literally fought the whole game. The other girl would bear hug Kayla at every turn and was never called for a foul. Kayla would return the physical play with pushing and shoving of her own. Later in the game, the other girl was heard saying “she plays hard” and was referring to Kayla! In a way, it was gratifying to see her stick up for herself. Maybe she’ll try out for 8th grade ball next year!

Kayla cracks a joke about how goofy the referee looks.

In other news, we started cleaning out her room to move. All of her Eurway furniture is now down and in the POD. She’s spent the last 7 years in that room (on the weekends I have her). We’ve painted to room many different colors; she’s had a lot of different furniture; and her computer has gone through a few rounds too. She started to understand nostalgia a little bit as she went through some of the old stuff in her closet.

Every day the house inches along. The tilework around our tub and shower is looking great! The driveway and sidewalk are now set and looking good too. That was so exciting, that Susan and I went out and bought some of the new furniture we planned on. We bought a bed and a breakfast table from Skandinavia Interiors. Teak. Very nice!
