Picnic Tables are so cool

Our temporary breakfast table

Susan and I finally got on the ball to buy some furniture for our new home this weekend. We took the kids with us and I’m not sure if I would prefer that or a sharp stick poked in my eye. It was fairly miserable for everyone. Erik was fussy and hungry much of the time. Emma was bored out of her mind. Susan and I couldn’t find the right thing. Finally, we went to Bassett and picked out a table that we both loved. Unfortunately, we have to wait 5 weeks for it to get here. So, we pulled in the picnic table that we normally use for the patio and pressed it into service as our breakfast table.

Emma and Erik get ready for bed

The kids have enjoyed the new digs. Emma enjoys running down the hall and Erik seems to enjoy his voice echoing in the cavernous expanse that is our living room. It’s been interesting for the rest of us too. For one, this house is so big, I have real difficulty remembering things from room to room. I’ll start out in our bedroom and think of something I need in Emma’s room. By the time I get down there, I’ve forgotten what it was. I would like to think I have a mild case of Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, but I just say that to make excuses.

The rotunda in the middle of the house (Emma calls it the “‘tunda”), has caused a few people to get confused. When we had the bed delivered, the delivery man got lost on the way back to the front door. The cat has difficulty remembering too. I’ve seen Hershel walk through the rotunda and stop on the other side and look around as if to say “what the heck was I doing?”.
