Emma hugs on to a pole by the Ex-Students Center
Another weekend has come to a close and I feel like we were able to accomplish quite a bit, but then again it went so fast.
Saturday was a blur. The best thing about it was that we had Kayla and we went over a friend’s house for a crawfish boil. Every year, our friend gets about 60 pounds of crawfish, and has a big party at her place. It’s an all day affair. We were able to catch up with some friends we hadn’t seen in a while, so that was rewarding. Emma was fascinated/scared of the live crawfish. She wasn’t to hot on them after they were cooked either. Susan and I already have a list of who we need to invite over…once our breakfast table gets here.
After the crawfish boil party, Kayla and I went to the old place to mow the lawn. The lawn at the old place is beautiful and plush. It looks nothing like our lawn at the new place (which is splotchy brown). Susan is going to call about a sprinkler system and I will use up some more of the fertilizer we moved from the old house. It’s funny how you take things for granted. By the way, I was able to mow the new front yard in about 10 minutes. That was blissful.
Today, Susan and I went shopping, hung up art and did a bit of organizing. Granny took Emma for several hours, so we were able to keep moving. We need about 5 days of this.

When you have two kids under 5 it’s non-stop. I don’t know quite how to describe it. The comedian Dennis Leary once described kids as “having drunken midgets around the house”. I can feel his pain. Every week since Erik arrived, I think I have shown up forgetting a vital thing at least once. Some days I forget to brush my hair. Other days I’m without a belt. I’ve forgotten my wallet and keys before. I’ve forgotten my cell phone a bunch too. I guess I should be thankful I show up with pants.
Thankfully Kayla provides us some relief when she comes over, but we only get her at certain times.
