The tallest building in downtown Denver
I’m on the road again for business. This time, I’m at a conference for higher education IT professionals called CUMREC. In order to get to the conference on Sunday afternoon, we (my colleagues and I) needed to fly up Saturday night. I must admit it brought back memories when I went through security at the Austin airport. Of course, when we were delayed an hour and 15 minutes, it brought back even more memories. Ugh.

I guess Marlowes qualifies as a “favorite” of mine now
We spent the night at the Adams Mark in Denver. I love the hotel and we were conveniently located on the 16th Street Mall (a neat entertainment and dining district in Denver). I had the opportunity to go to Marlowe’s. Marlowe’s holds a special place in my heart because of another time I was in Denver. I was working for the not-so-fun company and several co-workers and I were in Denver for a convention in 2003. Oh, and it was my birthday.
Much like my birthday in 2001, I wasn’t happy to be on the road. In 2001 I was in the terminal of the Gulfport-Biloxi airport…delayed…sitting in the lounge and looking at myself in the mirror thinking “boy…you have arrived…this is one special birthday”.
Well, Denver was about the same mood when my co-worker Kay remembered it was my birthday and we went to Marlowe’s. She probably doesn’t remember it, but I do. It really made me feel better.
If you’re reading this, Kay….thanks.
