Erik started doing this adorable tilted head thing at his birthday party
On Saturday we celebrated Erik’s birthday a little early. His official birthday is September 8th, but the family could convene this Saturday. We had both sets of grandparents and Aunt Jen and Uncle Richard up from Houston.

Presents!!!
Erik seemed a little shy about all the attention…at first. He soon started hamming it up, opening presents and being an all around “live wire”. Even though he’s not walking yet, he was pushing around boxes and having a grand time. He was quite impressed with the presents, but he liked chewing on the paper rather than finding out what was inside. That soon changed.

Aunt Jen and Uncle Richard got us a cool dinosaur ball game!
Erik was overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the toys he received. Jen and Richard got him a great dinosaur game that makes lots of noise. Erik also got other noisy toys, clothes and well wishes from everyone else.

Obligatory cake shot
In our family, a one year is old enough to have steak and cake. I decided to grill up sirloin from Costco and they were very nice. Erik ate a little bit of steak, but he was impressed with the cake more. Granted the texture was the best part. He sat in his high chair and experienced the sensation of cake and icing being “squooshed” through fingers. I was impressed!
The bath water had several chunks of chocolate floating in it.
