Emma is surprised to see her dad hold a camera again
Susan commented that I haven’t updated the blog in awhile. Well, I’m back!
I’ve been a creative funk for awhile. I don’t know what brought it on. Maybe it was the record heat we had recently (it was 108 the last Sunday in September).
I haven’t taken any photos in awhile and I blame my backpack for that. I used to have a big backpack where I would take my camera along everywhere I went. I got a new backpack this summer and my rather bulky camera won’t fit (because the new backpack is slim and svelte - here’s a picture). I’ve missed some great shots on campus because I haven’t had the camera with me. As long as I’m blaming things other than my lack of motivation, I also blame the hot weather. It’s no fun to go on a photo safari when it actually feels like you’re on the Serengeti.
I started taking pictures again. We’ll see what happens.
Things have improved somewhat. The weather actually feels like fall (we had a real cold front come through) and it’s in the 40s this morning.
In the Austin area, we get limited to exposures to certain seasons. For example, we’re in “fall” right now, but I expect to have a little “summer” reappear in between cold fronts. We’ll have a very brief winter. We may get an ice storm or some sleet, but it may not be our year for snow. We’ll have a brief spring and then our good friend summer reappears for her extended engagement.
As cynical as that sounds, I’m not down about it. Fall brings things like football and baseball playoffs. I love both of these things. I’ll savor the cooler weather and the buffalo wings.
Another reason I’m in a good mood? 45-12.
