At least the Bellagio water show didn’t get cancelled because of high winds
I haven’t written in a bit, but it’s been a busy several days.
I finally got the family to Vegas. It wasn’t easy, but I was able to get my family (plus my parents) out to Rat-Pack-Land. We had a blast, but let me tell you about the cat first.

Runaway kitty
For 2 weeks, our cat Herschel went missing. She got in between the dogs and an open door and she ran off. We were devastated. Herschel has been in the family for a decade or more. After 2 weeks, Susan and I wrote her off.
Imagine our surprise when we received a phone call our first morning in Vegas from our vet letting us know that Round Rock Animal Control picked up Hersch alive! Talk about luck! Apparently, she ran down the street and into an attic of a house under construction. We were overjoyed.
Now to Vegas…
Susan and the kids had a harrowing trip out to Vegas (and back) but we all made it on 3 different airlines thanks to my traveling days (and frequent flier miles). We did some of the things you’re required to do in Vegas.
- We saw the Bellagio watershow
- We toured the strip casinos (Paris was really nice)
- We ate 99 cent shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate Casino downtown
- We went to a buffet or two
- We took advantage of freebie slot play (and won a little bit)
- We hit the M&M and Coca-Cola stores
- Kayla and I rode a roller coaster!
In addition, we ate at In-N-Out Burger 3 times while in Vegas! Needless to say it was a hit with the family.
We were a little bit worried that the kids wouldn’t adjust well to the new time zone (Vegas is 2 time zones over). We were needlessly worried. All the kids are party animals. Kayla, Emma and Erik stayed up way past their bedtimes and loved every minute of it.
There’s too much to describe, but suffice it to say we had a great time. There are still things for us to do when we take the next trip out to Vegas.

[...] Susan and I have been together (as a couple) for 10 years now. For friends and family who have known us, you know about our cat Herschel. I’m very sad to report that Herschel passed away today. According to the Vet she had pancreatitis and was on a steady decline ever since we got her back from her summer adventure. She was approximately 13 years old. [...]
