Round Rock got a new IKEA last week. For the past several months, we’ve been hearing the buzz about the Swedish furniture/housewares mega-store coming to town. In preparation, while in Chicago this summer, I went to the IKEA there to check it out. Not everyone loves IKEA, but I do. In the past 4 days, I’ve been there 3 times. Emma needed a new desk to handle her computer and the stressful homework burden she gets in Kindergarten. While in Chicago I noticed a little desk that might do the trick, so we waited patiently for the Round Rock store to open.
Last night, we bought the desk along with chair and a few other miscellaneous items.
If you don’t know much about IKEA, their furniture is Euro-styled and always requires assembly. This desk was no exception. Given that I worked in a desk factory one summer during college, I knew it wouldn’t pose much of a challenge.
Of course, I didn’t have 2 kids and a hyperactive kitten “help” me when I worked at the factory.
It took about twice as long as it needed to, but the desk was completed successfully.
Big Turkey Day tomorrow. Mom and Dad will host a bunch of people (in typical fashion). I’ll submit a full report.
The header graphic is a pumpkin pie…even though I don’t like pumpkin pie.
