Today is my dad’s birthday. I won’t say how old, but in my eyes he’s magically stayed the same age.
Even though my dad isn’t the Ward Cleaver stereotype, he did teach me a few things.
Things I learned from my dad:
- Elgin Hot Guts and Sun Crest Orange are nature’s perfect food
- How to waterski with one ski
- With a little determination and patience, you can fix almost anything (and he can)
- Hair loss is nothing to get all that worried about (I’m still trying to learn that one)
- Be nice to people…you’ll be surprised how far that goes
- How to drive a 1969 Ford Pickup (with manual transmission and manual steering)
- The best hamburgers in the world were at Diamond Inn in Taylor
- Laughing is good for you
- Being “a man” means always taking care of your family
Happy birthday, dad. Thanks.
