Well, it was another fine Christmas for the Guentzel-LaRonde Incident. The kids all got a bunch of stuff, and Susan and I finally got to exhale and rest a bit. Here’s a quick roundup:

• On Christmas Eve, Santa pulled a fast one on us. Instead of coming around later in the evening, he apparently showed up early and delivered presents when we were on the way to Granny’s house. Emma couldn’t believe she just missed him again! The disappointment was short-lived, though. Emma, Erik and Cousin Cora all got a bunch of presents.
• While Cora seemed to get the idea of what presents were and what to do with them, Erik hit the present opening with gusto. However, he didn’t get the present distribution system. He kept redistributing the presents once they were given to their intended family member.
• Quick Summary of toys for the kids: Emma - Disney Princess stuff and art stuff; Erik - Tools, a bulldozer and a toy motorcycle; Cora - beautiful baby clothes and a neat toy vacuum cleaner.
• On Christmas Day, we went over to the LaRondes to have present opening and breakfast. Erik got more tools and he started working with them right away. Erik’s favorite tool is the hammer…he really likes hammers. I suppose if you believed in Karma, you might wonder what Susan and I did wrong to deserve this. We really can’t leave him unsupervised with a hammer lest the wrong things get hammered (furniture, breakables, his sister, the cat, etc…).
• Susan and I got great presents from both sets of parents (the Guentzels and the LaRondes). We didn’t get much for each other, but we thought the Disney trip and the resulting glee from our children was more than enough. However, we did hit a few sales on the 26th (Susan and I now have brand new LCD monitors!).
