Well, this year it wasn’t much of a cleaning as it was an edition. No, there’s no sad news to share. Our cemetery now has a fence! A real chain-link fence instead of a barbed wire fence.
My uncle and my dad did a lot of work the last several weeks on putting up a chain link fence around our cemetery. Dad was able to find some used fence material on craigslist and we had just enough to make it around the .4 acre plot of land. Luckily, we only had one more section to finish, so we were on to the Elgin Sausage right on time.
I drove my truck into the cemetery so the kids and I would have a place to sit down for lunch. In spite of the weird looks we got from the few folks that drove by (what? you’ve never had a picnic in a graveyard?), everyone had a great time.
The best part? No signs of poison ivy! So far.
