The Kids Go Their First Longhorn Game

Believe or not, Susan and I were brave enough this Labor Day weekend to take Emma and Erik to a Longhorn football game this weekend. We figured we would have today off to recover. As it turned out, we needed it.

We had the good fortune of having a friend of ours give up his tickets because he was due to be out of town (Thank You Doug!). Otherwise, it would have been dicey to get in. Longhorn games have gotten much more popular.

Needless to say, the kids were excited. Emma has wanted to go to a Longhorn game for some time; Erik just was excited to see any football game. Emma could hardly contain herself.

We did all the things you’re supposed to do when you go to a Longhorn game:

  • Park a mile away - Check
  • Go to the Posse for a burger - Check
  • Go to the Texas Exes Alumni Center with a bunch of sweaty fans - Check

We had a pretty good time. Erik was pleased he could yell at the top of his lungs and it was actually encouraged. Emma loved the cheerleaders and the view. She didn’t much care for the crowd when they all yelled in unison (just a bit scary).

Needless to say, both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home.

I put up a photo gallery with a few more pics.
