Tonight was a night for ghosts, goblins, princesses and firemen. Halloween!

Most of our neighborhood sat out in lawn chairs at the end of their driveways handing out candy (forgoing the traditional doorbell rings). Susan lucked out and got candy duty (with her broken foot and all) while I was tasked with trying to keep up with a hyperactive 6 year old girl and an awestruck 3 year old boy as they went from house to house to gather free candy.

Emma was Jasmine (from Disney’s Aladdin) and Erik was a fireman.

Susan sat on the tailgate of my truck with bubble gum, dum-dums and gummy lifesavers while talking to neighbors we knew and a few we didn’t.

I got a bit of exercise. Adults cannot match the unlimited energy of a child in search of free candy. Erik and Emma came back with quite a haul. Our neighbors are festive and generous.
