Another year, another cemetery cleaning…no new inhabitants.
The Guentzel Clan set out to Middle of Nowhere, Williamson County on a brisk Saturday afternoon to tidy up the final resting spot of some of our earlier ancestors (at least from Texas).
I have to admit I was a bit startled when we got there. The grass was five feet tall in some places. This wasn’t going to be easy.
Here are the “before” pictures:
After some hard work, we were able to get it managable. Here’s the “after” picture:
We felt like we earned a picnic, so we broke out the Elgin Hot Sausage, potato salad, cold slaw and desserts. I backed the truck in so the kids would have a place to sit around, eat and spill soda.
It’s looking like we’ll need to start doing the cleaning twice a year because of the amount of work that went in to clearing the growth. Maybe you’ll see another one of these posts come September. I love having a picnic in our cemetery. Besides…I love getting stares from the few cars that pass by.
